A Dossier and Disclaimer

Blame it on Vinnie Politan.

In a few short months I have become a huge fan of the early morning satellite radio program hosted by the former CourTV personality and occasional HLN pinch-hitter. It can be found on xm139 and Sirius108. It's a not-too-heavy, not-too-light chat show with interesting guests and a very well-balanced and highly entertaining cast. The live show goes from 5 to 8 a.m. (repeated immediately thereafter until 11 a.m. Central) so I generally only catch the better part of the last live hour and thus have little opportunity to participate in any of the discussions. Fortunately Vinnie keeps up a couple of blogs which track a number of the topics discussed on the shows. Last week I decided to contribute my thoughts through the written medium. The subject matter was the comaprison between the deaths of Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson. I had a few thoughts of my own and, in my usual fashion, managed to weave them into a few paragraphs.

Fast forward to this morning. I'm sitting in my office, going through the morning mail, and hear Vinnie mention that he wants to share a post left on his site by a blogger. He then proceeds to read my post, adding that when he first read it he thought it was one of Keith Olberman's monologues from MSNBC and then closes with "thank you, Blogger." Well, that's all the encouragement I needed.

I've made a couple of very poor attempts to blog in the past. It's been quite a few years since I've had the itch to try again. Apparently one individual thinks I have the chops, so what the hell, I'll make another run at it.

Naturally, I make no promises other than I won't post unless I have something I really feel like sharing. I'm also not going to focus on any particular subject matters. I plan to make this a free-wheeling affair, sharing whatever happens to be on my mind and trying hard not to be boring. Dialogue would be great. Don't be shy about leaving comments.

Although I assume most of you already know me on some level, a brief introduction is nonetheless in order. I'm a 41 year old married father of two daughters. I am presently running my own law practice. My principal area of concentration is consumer debt collection and my firm maintains two collection call centers, one in my hometown of St. Louis, Missouri and one in Marietta, Georgia. I was raised in Jefferson City, Missouri and attended the University of Missouri at Columbia. Yes, I went there in the hopes of attending their prestigious School of Journalism and graduated with a degree in English. Hey, I said it was a prestigious school of journalism. I attended law school at Oklahoma City University School of Law, the most prestigious law school within the city limits of Oklahoma City. I am rolling into my seventeenth year of practicing law, most of which has been in the field of debt collection. A good nine years of my practice was on the litigation side, however I've been out of the courthouse for the better part of the last six years. I have varying interests outside of the home and office. Rather than give too much away, I'll let future blog posts guide you around the campus of my interests.

Alright, let's see where this thing goes. I'm just as curious as you.

You are curious, no?
